Mohs Skin Lab UK

Mohs Skin Lab UK Ltd is a specialist service focused on providing experienced histo-technicians to support the diagnosis and surgical management of skin cancer using Mohs micrographic surgery.

Our technicians work on-site alongside Mohs surgeons and dermatology teams, processing and preparing tissue during each stage of the procedure. This real-time histology support helps clinicians assess surgical margins accurately, minimise the amount of healthy tissue removed and improve outcomes for patients.

By concentrating on the technical and laboratory aspects of Mohs surgery, we help clinical teams deliver a high-quality, efficient service for skin cancer patients.

We have a team of highly skilled Histo-technicians, our service covers various laboratories across the country in NHS and private settings.

H&E Technique (Haematoxylin & Eosin Staining) – Brief Description

The H&E technique is the most widely used histological staining method in pathology.
It helps differentiate structures within tissue so they can be examined under a microscope.

Haematoxylin stains cell nuclei blue-purple, highlighting genetic material and nuclear detail.

Eosin stains the cytoplasm and extracellular proteins pink-red, providing contrast and allowing clear visualisation of tissue architecture.

In Mohs surgery, H&E staining enables rapid and accurate assessment of tumour margins, helping clinicians determine whether all cancer cells have been removed.
